We are looking for someone to handle the day to day local van route for SJC Transport, Inc. d/b/a Airgroup. The van route will include a milk run roundtrip from San Jose to Brisbane and back on most days. This job also works in the warehouse receiving freight and logging inventory in a Warehouse Management System when business needs require it.
Driving Duties and Responsibilities:
- Before leaving the dock each morning conduct a safety inspection and ensure the van is safe to drive
- Arrive at customers site with a positive professional attitude
- Review and check the daily manifest/alerts at each stop for accuracy and note discrepancies if needed
- Communicate with dispatch at each stop
- Drive safely obeying all traffic laws
- Report any damage to freight or vehicle immediately
- Track daily miles on driver log each day
Warehouse/Inventory Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive freight from trucks as needed
- Check all paperwork and note any discrepancies on the bill of lading
- Inventory freight that will go into storage using a WMS
- Will be required to pack freight for outbound transfer
- Keep warehouse clean and safe at all times
- Respond to customer requrest to pull inventory as needed
- Prepare freight for outbound transfers daily
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- High School education or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 25 years of age to a maximum of 70 years of age (insurance requirements)
- Authorized to work in US
- At least 3 years of inventory management and warehouse experience required
- 2 years of van/truck driving experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of smartphones and/or tablets required
- Good communication skills both written and spoken required
- Knowledge of all traffic laws
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, rain, hot, or cold temperatures
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs safely
- Ability to work shifts between 8 and 10 hours long
- Possess a positive outgoing attitude
- Forklift Certification will be required
- Must be able to pass a background check and security threat assessment
- Must have a clean DMV
