County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) operates a central Sterile Services Department (SSD) based at University Hospital of North Durham (UHND). The purpose of the SSD is to supply surgical teams with all the equipment required for clean, sterile procedures. SSD collects from and delivers to operating theatres, departments, wards and clinics throughout the Trust.
The SSD is a crucial part of the surgical service, ensuring that instruments needed for operations are properly sterilised and maintained, and that the risk of patient infections is minimised. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced SSD staff working alongside our wider clinical teams.
