Application of Physics to the Medical Diagnostics field including areas such as:
- Identification of new sensing technologies
- Understanding and application of machine vision and machine learning techniques in automated and semi-automated applications
- Optimisation of optical imaging techniques, including evaluation of new camera technologies such as sCMOS
- Data processing, simulation, and data analysis for improved understanding of physical characteristics of biosensors, sensor response and set-up in diagnostic applications.
- Research, develop and implement CCD and CMOS sensing platforms
- Research and develop enhanced image techniques
- Develop software for image processing applications on C# or other software platform
- Design and execute experiments independently, identify scientific and technical problems and provide potential solutions.
- Interpret data and discuss experimental results within team and department meetings.
- Conduct scientific literature searches for project development purposes and continued professional development.
- Interact effectively with staff of diverse disciplines across the organisation.
Essential:
- BSc in Physics, Mathematics, or other numerate disciplines.
- Demonstrable understanding of the principles of imaging employing CCD and CMOS sensors and relevant optical set-up
- Experience of machine vision and machine learning applications
- 2-3 years of Industrial experience within relevant field
- Demonstrable understanding of theoretical and experimental spectroscopy.
- Ability to drive projects independently within the context of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Ability to assess and organise resources.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate research experience in the development of imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of software development stages in image processing applications.
- Experience of developing software applications for the research and analysis of biosensor applications.
- Mentoring graduates and placement engineers and scientists.
