An exciting position has arisen for a Laboratory Scientist with a background in Serology to work within SRUC’s Veterinary Services group, based in Central Analytical Laboratory at the Pentlands Science Park near Penicuik. The main purpose of the role is the testing of samples submitted for serological analysis using ELISA.

Main duties include:

  • preparing and testing ruminant blood, tissue and faecal samples mainly by ELISA
  • general housekeeping
  • reviewing quality control data
  • reporting results in LIMS
  • routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • selection and procurement of lab equipment and consumables
  • supporting staff training, supervision and deputising for the Senior Laboratory Scientist
  • helping maintain the current UKAS accreditation status of the laboratory including internal and external quality assessment exercises

Candidates should possess previous experience of working in an accredited laboratory and be qualified to BSc level in Biological sciences or other applicable degree.

Please note, that in this role, weekend/rota working may be required.
