Role Overview & Responsibilities

The role

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated individual for a Research Support Assistant position within the Bristol Dental School at the University of Bristol. You will join an exciting research programme on the development of new antimicrobial and anti-encrustation materials for urinary catheters, supervised by Prof Bo Su and Dr Angela Nobbs from the Biomaterials Engineering and Oral Microbiology groups respectively.

What will you be doing?

The project will involve materials formulation and fabrication, microbiological characterisation, and biocompatibility assessment. You will carry out materials design and formulation of antimicrobial materials and conduct microbiological/biological testing using a relevant in vitro model to assess the biocompatibility and antimicrobial/anti-encrustation performance of the developed materials.

You should apply if

  • You should have a A good degree in health or social science or similar discipline.
  • You have knowledge and experience in both antimicrobial materials and microbiology
  • You have willingness, ability, availability and flexibility to travel and work across the Bristol and Bath regions and at NHS sites

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract until 02/09/2023

Salary: £32,411 - £36,333 per annum (pro rata if applicable)
